Flat tire in Africa? No problem — that's how it works!
You're on the dusty roads of Africa, surrounded by breathtaking wilderness, when suddenly: hiss! Your tire gives up. Don't panic! With these tips, you'll have changed wheels in no time — and you can continue your adventure.

Changing tires under the African sun can be a real workout — don't forget to drink water and get some shade.
1. Safety first!
Pull over to the side of the road as far as possible. Switch on the hazard warning lights and get your jack ready. Keep an eye out for wild animals around — after all, you don't want an elephant or lion to join you.
2. Tools ready to hand?
Before you get started, check your equipment:
- Car jack
- Wheel brace or wrench
- Spare tire
- A wedge (or a thick stone — nature helps out!)
Tip: Gloves and a cloth make the job easier, especially if the tire has fallen into African dust.
3. Jack up the car
Apply the handbrake, don't forget the wedge, place the spare tire halfway under the car in case the jack slips off. Place the jack in the right place — usually at the reinforcement under the car, directly behind the tire. Turn the crank slowly until the flat tire just leaves the ground.
4. Loosen the nuts (don't lose your head)
Use the wheel brace to loosen the nuts. A little mnemonic:
“Loosen it first, then lift it up! ”
Don't be afraid to stomp on the wheel brace if they resist stubbornly — after all, we're not here to be delicate!
5. Old wheel off, new wheel on
Remove the flat tire and put on the spare. Important: Tighten the nuts by hand before lowering the jack again. Then use the wheel wrench to tighten it properly - in a star shape, not all the way around.
6. Let's go!
Wrap everything up neatly again, check again whether the spare tire fits securely, and off you go! The nearest gas station is a good place to check the tire pressure and have the flat tire repaired. Inform your car rental company, you may need a new wheel.
Now you're well prepared to master any tire drama with confidence. So get on the road and off to the next adventure!
